30 Things I’m Grateful For in October

October is always very special to me because it marks my anniversary of living in Connecticut! It’s been three years already. In these three years I’ve gone through two jobs, two apartments, tons of friends, and one boyfriend. I’ve also gotten two cats since I’ve been here! I’ve traveled all around Connecticut but still think there is so much to see and explore. I don’t think I’ll stay in Connecticut forever, but it’s been pretty great for the past three years… here’s to (at least) three more!

  • Maniac
  • $15 jeans at Target
  • And new brown ankle booties
  • Huge salads from Cutspring Deli
  • Celebrating my boyfriend’s mom’s birthday at Gouveia Vineyards

30 Things I’m Grateful For in September

This month was very work-focused, which I loved! I spent a lot of quality time with my bosses and coworkers throughout the month – at our annual client party, at dinners, and activities. It’s so nice to work for people I actually like. I think that’s how it should be! I was also really inspired by the book I’ve been reading – Lean In. I feel like everything in my life is going really well… my career, my well-being, my relationship, my friendships (and most importantly, my cats)… and I’m really looking forward to what the next few months and years bring.

30 Things I’m Grateful For in August

September snuck up on me! I feel like I didn’t take full advantage of summer. The past two summers I’ve been in Connecticut I went to the beach pretty often and on day trips around the state. I blame working on the weekends now to my lack of a social life, but c’est la vie. One fun thing that happened this month was that my parents drove here to visit for a weekend. I usually only see them once a year at Christmas (this year it will be three times – once in March, in August, and in December. I think they miss me ha ha).

I also finally got a new kitten! I’ve been wanting to for a while and I think the wait was worth it because we got a perfect little black and white kitten who fits into our family so well. He likes watching The Office with me, chasing his tail, chasing and play fighting with his big sister around the house, playing with my hair ties, snuggling, chasing the laser pointer and crying whenever he’s feeling neglected.

  • Vanilla milkshakes
  • Poutine at Bull & Barley
  • New and exciting things happening at work
  • When my cat sits next to me on the piano bench when I serenade her
  • That I don’t have to pay property taxes on my car
  • Margaritas at Geronimos with my work friend (this is becoming a monthly tradition and I love it)
  • Having a job with flexibility and where I don’t need to go in at some absurd time like 8am
  • Kringle and New Glarus beer all the way from Wisconsin (thanks mom and dad!)
  • Trekking through Massacusetts and Rhode Island with my parents
  • And finding a cemetery that held my great great great grandparents
  • Touring The Breakers in Newport
  • And walking along the cliffs of Rhode Island
  • Walking through New London, one of my favorite coastal Connecticut towns
  • And touring a Coast Guard ship for free
  • Checking out the Book Barn
  • And getting some cool souvenirs, records, and a shirt from Tumbleweeds in Niantic

30 Things I’m Grateful For in July

Why is it that the summer months fly by?! I can’t believe that it’s almost August. But with every month that goes by I always think about milestones – like that it’s almost three years that I’ve lived in Connecticut; it’s been almost a year and a half working for Snyder & Pritchard Homes; almost a year working at the restaurant; and one more month closer to turning 28 (EW).

The last week of July, my boyfriend and I went on a road trip to Cleveland (last year we went on a road trip to Omaha – I think road tripping to mediocre Midwestern cities might be our yearly tradition), which was definitely the highlight of this month. Check out 30 more things I’m grateful for.

30 Things I’m Grateful For in June

I feel like June flew by! That’s always how summer goes, isn’t it? This month was pretty great, filled with good food, time spent with friends, and rediscovering a hobby – playing the piano! I scored an electric piano on sale at Guitar Center. I took lessons for about 7 years when I was younger but stopped in college. I’m so grateful I have the finances to pay for a piano, the space in my own apartment, and a boyfriend who helped me put it together. I’m still a little rusty but it’s been so fun re-learning it.

30 Things I’m Grateful For in May

May was the month of many compliments… I was told that my makeup is flawless, that I have the body of a ballerina, that I’m gorgeous and cute – but more importantly, I got some great work compliments – I was called a wizard and superstar from my boss’s boss, and that I’m good at my job and do things the correct way. I try and stay away from cliches, but this month the mantra that has been going through my head has been “work hard, stay humble,” and in both of my jobs I can feel myself thinking that during certain situations. I’m on the up and up in a small way, and life has never looked better.
